fleeting

Alright, I confess:
in my every spare moment of the day
I find my scattered thoughts circling
back to you.
   And I know I musn’t –
I know I promised –
but it was such a wonderful feeling (if fleeting)
and I can’t seem to let go.
         Yet I do try very hard to be wary
and curb my gentle dreams;
but despite my efforts,
the thread continues to spill right over
time and time again.
                  So darling please forgive me
